I was talking to a friend of mine about my “idea”. We live in the same community and we would run into each other here and there. For whatever reason, I thought she was a stay at home Mom. When I told her that we needed to find a product engineer and an injection molding manufacturer she started laughing. Why is that funny, I wondered? She then told me that she and her husband own a manufacturing facility that specializes in injection molding. NO WAY!!!
Is that divine guidance, or what? Lucky for us that we stumbled onto people we could trust.
You have to be so careful when choosing your relationships. Any and all of them. I know this is shocking but not everybody comes from a place of integrity.
The Next Steps
Not only did we come up with designs for a prototype (than another, and another and another, etc.) but I had to teach myself about credit card processing, shipping methods, marketing, different types of business automation, social media, website development – I think you get it. All I can say is “Wowzers!”. As the creator, the person with the ideas, I really had no idea what I was getting myself into.
I really wanted a toiletry case that protected products when traveling. Going off my personal experience, I wanted to include my shower puff. I thought we could call it a Puff Pack. Did you know Sean Combs, Puff Daddy owned the word Puff in every category for trademarking? HA! Well that crushed that idea.
Check out our first prototype. A little bulky and the interior was pretty limited. It looked more like a UFO!
After four prototypes...
I love this end result. We discovered that this was way more than a cosmetic case. This is a “Use your imagination” case.
